Section 1: Introduction to the combat level guide
Your combat level is possibly
one of the most important parts of runescape. It is made up of 8 different skills that are all equally needed to progress
up to level 132. some can be important (like hitpoints) and some not so important (like summoning) but we will go through
all of these skills here.
Section 2: Attack, Defence & Strength levels
In short, your four most
important levels are Attack (atk), Strength (str), Defence (def) and Hitpoints (HP). These skills dictate what weapons you
can use, how much damage you can do, what armour you can use and what amount of damage you can take. In this section of the
guide we will go over the first 3, starting with Attack.
Attack – your attack
level is very important if you want to be successful in runescape, a higher attack level allows you to wield stronger weapons
(starting from lvl 1 bronze to lvl 60 dragon and higher). It also lets you have a chance of actually hitting more often.
Strength – a powerful
weapon is useless without the force to use it, this is where strength comes in. if you have a high strength level you will
be able to cause more damage and get more xp faster. It also helps to have a high strength level when using the defence stance,
but I will go into more detail with that later.
Defence – a high defence
level allows you to use stronger armour and take less damage. This is also a key part of being successful in runescape as
you need to be alive to advance your skills.
Section 3: Hitpoints
Your hitpoints level is possibly
one of the most important level you have, as it allows you to take more damage before dieing. You can tell when you cause
damage or are being caused damage by the colour of the “splat” above the monster or yourselves head(s). A blue
“splat” means no damage caused, a red “splat” means damage has been caused, a green “splat”
means poison damage and an orange “splat” means disease damage. The number inside the “splat” shows
the amount of damage caused by the creature, a blue splat has always got a “0” inside, a red has got anything
from 1-80ish and the other two vary.
Summary 1
All of the above mentioned
skills advances your combat level after any combination of 4 advances, so you could go up 2 attacks, 1 strength and one Hitpoints and go up a combat level,
or one of each and go up a combat level.
Section 4: Prayer
Prayer is a very important
skill; even though it does not have the capability to cause damage on its own (apart from a few exceptions) it can still change
the outcome of a battle. Some prayers can help you cause more damage, like ultimate strength and eagle eye, but some can help
protect you like steel skin or piety. Then there are some that allow you to keep an extra item or cause damage to others around
you when you die etc.
Prayer is also difficult
(and can be expensive) to advance in, unlike the above skills you cant cause damage to train it, you must bury bones instead,
with bigger bones giving more xp.
It is also different from
the above skills as you need 8 levels to advance a combat level, meaning that
every 2 prayer levels = 1 attack level or 1 defence level etc. so you can do a mixture of levels to advance a skill level.
Section 5: Magic & Archer
